JUDY QUINN 1955 - 2024
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the news that CDR founder Judy Quinn passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening (June 25th).
Since 2004 when Judy found her first abandoned donkey (Hope) in Corfu she has worked tirelessly on the island for animal welfare. Setting up Corfu Donkey Rescue (CDR) Judy has enabled hundreds of donkeys to live out their lives in the safe, calm and beautiful shelter in Doukades.
Judy's legacy and everything she built and achieved will continue in her name.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.
THANK YOU!!
We always like to acknowledge donations made to FCDR and to thank people for their generosity. Sometimes it’s only a few pounds but to the donor those few pounds are all they can give and that makes their donation very special and as gratefully received as any other. A surprising number of donations are sent anonymously. They are just as welcome of course and they are appreciated as much but we are unable to thank those donors for their generosity. So to all the anonymous donors we say a huge and special THANK YOU. Your continued support is vital to the successful running of CDR and although we are unable to thank you all individually, please know that your support is valued enormously and we cannot thank you enough. With very best wishes from Sally, John, Suzanne - and of course Judy and her donkeys |

Veterinary Care:
One of CDR’s biggest problems has been the lack of equine veterinary knowledge on the island. Judy continually researches ways to help the animals using homeopathic remedies due to the absence of conventional veterinary medicine. Although not a vet nor an expert in medicine, she has come up with her own mix which has brought many donkeys back from the brink of death enabling them to live on contentedly for many more years. Crucially, Judy is also advising other donkey charities in Greece about CDR’s methods.
Veterinary students from the UK, Eire, the USA and Canada have undertaken their training or internships at CDR. Judy is particularly proud that two Greek veterinary students learnt about donkey welfare and medical requirements at CDR. If she can encourage more Greek students to learn about donkeys, then donkeys in Greece have more hope in the future.
